Description:

This internship is part of the Summer 2025 Professional Internship Program. To be eligible for the program you must:

  • Be enrolled as an SUU student during the course of the internship.
  • Have and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Be willing to work 10 to 20 hours per week.
  • Provide thoughtful responses in your application.

Description of position:

  • Provide valuable support to IT team members by providing pertinent critical visibility into performance of various IT segments: hardware, software, networks, or telephony
  • Other duties as assigned/needed

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and classify system and network metrics for monitoring by open source software such as Prometheus, Zabbix, OpenNMS or others
  • Develop and deploy informative dashboards to various departments using open source software such as Grafana, ElasticSearch, Logstash, Kibana, or others
  • Follow emerging trends in the open source software environment and make recommendations as needed

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Understanding of various languages (BASH, Go, Python, etc.) very helpful, but not required
  • Ability to work independently with instruction as needed from mentor
  • Creativity in problem-solving
  • Willingness to learn, and self-motivating to do so
